Equities
Asian shares were mixed Friday, with technology stocks leading the gainers after a solid earnings report from Intel. Japan's Nikkei 225 was up 0.3%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was down 0.5%, South Korea's Kospi Composite was up 0.5% while New Zealand's NZX-50 slipped 0.3%.
Euro
The Euro remained bound by its weekly trading range as the ECB held rates at 1.0% and President Trichet gave Forex traders the impression that he would remain Dovish in his outlook for the Eurozone.. The EUR/USD traded with a low of 1.4409 and a high of 1.4558 but going forward, news out on December EU inflation will likely dictate the direction of the pair in the immediate future.
Gold
Gold slowly slipped overnight with overall trading reaching a low of USD$1130 and high of USD$1146 before beginning to retrace again.
Initial support at 1119 (Jan 13 low) followed by 1115 (Jan 5 low). Initial resistance is now at 1161 (Jan 11 high) followed by 1168 (0.618 of 1226.56-1074.88).
